This Foley and Corinna dress is super pretty. It doesn't look like it in the picture on the site but I saw a pic of it on an ad and it's fantastic!

In more exciting news, I FINALLY got in a good thrifting adventure the other day and I feel very relaxed now. I got 4 scarves, 2 pairs of shoes, and a very neat halloween dress. Okay, so it's not a treasure trove of finds or anything but atleast it was fun. I've also started completely cleaning out my closet because there's no space and I'm sure I don't wear everything. I'll sell the good stuff in probably a few weeks when I actually get it done so check back!

Lastly, I finally ventured down to our fairly new American Apparel and it absolutely sucked. I was always tempted to get some of there stuff on the website and wrote the prices off just because I heard the fabric was impressive and that the pieces that forever. My friend got the California Hoodie and it already looks completely worn, the store smelled like jheri curl juice and I have never seen so much pleather-inspired fabric in my life(or atleast not since 5th grade.) Needless to say, I'm glad I never purchased anything.

To make sure that my half-hour trip down there didn't feel completely wasted, I popped into the Urban Outfitters next door. I found this brand, Lark&Wolff by Steven Alan and absolutely fell in love. I only had about $50 with me but was immediately drawn to the kitten-like softness of this grey jumper. Sadly, it was $88. Happily, I went home and found it on their website and it was only $30! AND I didn't even have to buy it myself because someone else bought it for me. It came today and it is so heavenly perfect.

I might have to send it back because I missed the note about getting a size smaller than usual and I got a medium thinking it would fit smaller but the straps are too long.

I wasn't too impressed with Betsey Johnson's Spring collection as a whole, but I absolutely love the above striped swimsuit/leotard/whatevers and especially the following fantasticness:

F21 was a bust. I found 4 really really good dresses but one was filthy and mangled up on the floor and the other three I could only find one of and the size was too big. The store is literally chaos so if you do find something good, you're stuck with the size you find unless you have you six hours to look through every item. The staff was zero help and it was flooded with bitchy teenagers. UGH. I did find one super cute polka dot dress but it was $22 for not much material and the line was long so I figured I could live without it. Right as I got out of the store I got attacked but a nail buffer guy who got me with the "Can I ask you a question?" act. I went to Old Navy hoping that I didn't drive 30 minutes for no reason but they didn't have anything I couldn't live without. I guess I shouldn't really vent on here because that's not what you're here for but take it from me, if you're in Omaha and really itchin' to get yourself some Forever 21...pass.

I did really like the Herringbone and Bustier Tube Dresses but again, the sizes were too big. Why do they insisted on giving you a crappy belt with every dress? It's too bad the closest Heritage is 2 hours from here.

Sigh, I want this Betsey Johnson dress.

Rip Off a little

Okay so I'm off for Forever 21 and I just got done pre-shopping online. They have a lot of the following cardigans which are very much rip-offs of the Nike Guru Shrug.
But look at this! A COLORBLOCK LEOTARD! I seriously gasped out loud when I saw this and the room full of people looked at me like I'm crazy. Maybe I am.I want a plain, black, fitted sweater vest.Also, where has Crewcuts been all my life? I grew up in Gymboree, Oshkosh, Laura Ashley and Heartstrings and not that I'm complaining, but a little mini J.Crew never hurts anyone. I should totally post some of my vintage pictures on here. To be continued!

Winterwear part 2.

So I checked my trusty clothier Old Navy to see what kind of coats they're offering up this year and I actually found some pretty good stuff. First off though, I have two coats slashed from about $50 to $10 and they're cute! So I'm not sure if there is just something wrong with them or what but either I want em. First is Contrast-Trim Twill Coat in Dark Night. There's also a Belted Twill Jacket in a dusty blue or pink for $10 which isn't my taste, but I'm sure it's someone's.

Wool-Blend Duffle Coat in Dark Night or Brown for $100. Pique Wool-Blend Coat in Beet Sugar for $89.50
I definitely like the bright greens and purples that they have this year. It's normally just Navy, Black, Tan and occasionally Brown.

After seeing the gorgeous coats that Delia*s has, Alloy sent me an email to check out their winterwear. Not really anything I hadn't seen before except for this:

I still LOVE the Mockneck Bell Coat and Twill A-Line Coat, but this textured wrap coats is one of my favorites I think. It could go with anything really(it comes in black too) and it's only $80. I just have a hard time really trusting Alloy's quality because it is basically Delia*s, but I'm weary of the fact that it doesn't have an actual store. It's like getting a mail-order bride or something. Sketchy.
I was looking through my archives and decided to recheck the prices on stuff I had complained about before. Excitingly enough, they've gone down!

I rarely post accessory items because I'm not much of an accessory person, or atleast I don't try too hard on them. However, this bag really caught my eye because it could totally be an adorable way to hide my Business Law book.

And it's surprisingly only $72 which isn't totally out of reach, but I could buy 7 dresses with that much so I have to pass. It comes in the mustard color above, Dark Choco or Grey(which was in Marie Claire.)
I'm kind of realizing that I don't have any real bags. I have a lot of clutches, especially over-sized ones, but not very many bags.

I wish this $55 Chinese Laundry clutch was in a more interesting color. Red, perhaps?

I am so sick of all the the Chick Downtown ads. They are seriously.everywhere. First of all, it's a dumb name. Secondly it's a carbon copy of net-a-porter, right down to the font on the list of designers. Maybe it's the same people but that would be stupid. There are, of course, neat things on there (like this White After Party Dress by Larok) but it's not like they make it. I wish I had more money.

I went to Target yesterday and completely forgot that Mr. Saunders stuff came out recently. It was a little...mild, I think. I just feel like we are constantly seeing the exact same thing. I was instantly drawn to the Neoprine Jacket before realizing that it was just polyester and foam.

Target.com has awful picture of his stuff on their site so I appologize. This dress was really cute in person:

As much as I hate to see the things I love being spread out to the masses, I like that ombre items are so much easier to find.

I also had some extra time to sift through all of the makeup and fell in love with Pixi's stuff. Seriously, everything is so perfect and actually looked great on my skin, but I'm not about to shell out $30 on foundation primer or $25 for cheek stain. However, if you have hundreds of extra bucks at your disposal, I'd encourage you to take a peek.

I ended up, for whatever reason, getting this swing peacoat which is more like a bright green than a Linda Blair barf green. It was on sale for $35 and I really think I just wasn't in the right mindset but I got a medium and it's enormous on me. I wore it to One Act practice but I could have fit a family of five inside. Needless to say I'm re-attaching the tag and returning it(yes, I'm one of THOSE people, sorry.) Plus I had $40 with me and ended up having to put back the last pair of geometric leggings and at only $3, it was really hard to do. Stupid coat.

I finished my de la Renta catch-up and my goodness, was it fantastic. Seriously, EVERYTHING from the metallic-y, double-collared dresses and the pretty square bags to the cartoon background...perfection.

One of my favorites was this little number. His ability to mix too much pattern and absolute simplicity astounds me.

Wee! Plus they had these amazing open skirts at the beginning of the show and the shoes!!! MY GOODNESS they did not show enough of the shoes.

The spring collection has some items with big, bright flowers and then there's some geometer-sketched dresses. I love mix.

Plus those long, gorgeously flowing gowns at the end. They never dissapoint. Kira Plastinininina, TAKE NOTES! THIS IS WHAT A REAL DESIGNER MAKES! Not this crap.

I love shoes. I also love Rachel, Taylor, and Brad off The Rachel Zoe Project. I was flipping through channels the other day and came across a room full of gorgeous dresses and was immediatly hooked. Then I saw the I-don't-take-anyones-crap attitude of everyone that works there and I'm officially addicted. She was dressing Deb Messing and all of the dresses got soaked because the room flooded and the dyes were running...it was a catastrophe and I was almost sure I was going to start bawling.

Back to shoes. I'm really falling head-over-heels(ha) in love with Emilio Pucci.

On the other hand, I'm getting my camera in like 2-3 weeks! Sounds so close, right? Okay well I'm stoked. I'm not stoked, however, about have to wear chest waders on Monday. Those go with nothing.

But seriously, the reason for my absense, which I really thought was more along the lines of two weeks, is because the downstairs computer got super messed up and if the internets out on that, it's out on my computer. I couldn't find a make-shift computer because the second I got started writing, something would kick me off. Anywho, here are some of the things I've found throughout the week.

First and foremost, Phillip Lim's newest line. A let down, for lack of a better term. The last couple seasons there have been a few things that I would instantly snatch but nothing I couldn't live without. His kids line on the other hand, fabulous. I want children so bad just because of his line.

There was just a commercial on for Omaha Fashion Week. I've lived here my whole life and I'm 99% positive we don't have a fashion week. Atleast not one big enough to earn a commercial.

My favorite designer, (who I'll hopefully get to work with someday) Betsey Johnson, has a lot of fantastic new stuff. My best friend works at a shop that sells everything from OP to Marc Jacobs and after their huge sale last weekend, each employee was given THREE free items for "working so hard." SHE GOT TWO FREE BETSEY JOHNSON DRESSES! Where is the justice in this world. This girl, and I love her dearly, but she wears t-shirts and jeans everyday and will probably never give these dresses the weartime that they deserve.

Anyways, good stuff.

Due to some unexpected expenses (*cough*shoppingspree*coughcough*) I still have no money for a new camera and my friends know my dislike for being in pictures so I don't have a way to show you my wardrobe(which is in a crazy black slump, by theway.) I feel bad that you can't put a face to the text but in all fairness, I can't see your face either. I hope I can get one soon though because my final homecoming is on October 3rd and I created what is quite possibly the greatest dress ever..that I've made anyways. I can't explain it because it wouldn't do it justice. Sit tight! I'm sure picture will be taken no matter what!

Ahh! I found my skirt!! The skirt I've been going on and on about I fuound at Old Navy yesterday for $2.99!!!It's so perfect, it's basically a tulip, just not as much poof because it's stretchy. Anyways, I also got a black, flowy skirt and a cotton/spandex high-waisted skirt that looks like a stiff satin. I finally give in to the cream,multi-layered top that I get excited about everytime I see it. I've talked myself out of it with the"like you'll ever actually wear this" speech so many times but at $5, i couldn't resist. One of my other really neat finds was a tan, khaki-inspired(?) 'dress'. However, when I got it home I realized it was really a romper! I look a little bit like Bindi the Jungle Girl in it but since I don't rap about endangered animals, I think people will still be able to tell us apart.
In other news, I accidently bought a size 8 skirt and since I can fit my waist, both arms, and a friend into it, I'm going to have to return it(sob.)

On this little spree, I also hit up Target specifically to find a certain ombre handbag but the only one they had was the black/grey combination. Boo. I instead found the Sandra Peep-Toe Pumps I had a shoe-crush on for a whopping $3 off.

I dispise buying Target shoes because in most stores, I'm an 8-8.5, occasionally 9. At Target I'm a 10 in some cases. I tried on the 9's which didn't walk well, I tried the 9.5's that felt weird on one toe, and I tried the 10's which completely fell off of my feet. I ended up getting the 9.5's because they fit the best without over-fitting and figured any other kinks would smooth out once they broke in. Okay well without a thin string of elastic between them, I runway walked them through the hallways and they don't stay on. At all. There's some sort of faux-felt or something on the heel part that makes for absolutely no support. There's another return.

Is it really THAT unreasonable to want a plain-colored V-neck tee that you CAN'T see through? I'm starting to think it is. Unless I want to pay around $30 for one or something, which I definitely do not want to do. The ones that come in those Hanes/Fruit of the Loom packages are completely see-through and shrink. There were some at Old Navy but they were really fitted. I want a blank white one, a dark grey one, and a black one(most importantly the white) and right now those are at the top of my "To Get" list. Ugh. Advice? Anyone?

Looking through the previews of Jonathan Saunder's new line Target, nothing really jumps out. It's very..blah. However, the skirt pictured above may just be the solution to my plain-black-skirt dilemma. Hope it looks like that in person!

This room is sooo close to being done I can almost taste it. It will be so nice to have all of my babies(articles of clothing) away in their own spaces. I feel so awful piling them on my bed but really, I have no other choice.

For now, America's Next Top Model is about to premiere and although it's generally a train wreck and Tyra's a little crazy, I'm still addicted.

With that in mind, you should go watch the greatest 25 second video ever.

And a message to all online "vintage" dealers, an old ratty Goodwill cardigan should be labeled as such and not listed for over $30. Seriously.

Well, not totally. Apparently Alloy is going to make 'selling-actual-good-looking-apparel' a regular thing so now things are also on sale. Which means that I, again, have to take back what I've said about them before. The shoes I've previously mentioned are now a VERY small percentage off, but technically since they're on sale, I need to give them a little credit. Enjoy!
Seriously though, go to the site and check out the "style child." They bestow this glamorous award on a random teenager once a month or week or something and you can barely see what the girl is wearing, first off. Secondly, from what you can see, she's just your generic, 'this-was-$5-at-F21' teenager. Ew. However, this girl should be commended, I love tuckers.

Gossip Girl last night was fantastic. I'm so glad it's back. I actually like Chuck Bass this season however I don't think he's as "gorgeous" as everyone thinks he is. Gorgeous is the dress that Blair wore to the white party. I liked Serena's too but Blair's was just sexier.

Did anyone else think it was dumb that they allowed so many people to wear various creams and off-whites? At the real white party, you'd get the boot for it.

I either need to make more money or be less cheap...probably the latter. I love some of Alloy's stuff, especially lately, but it doesn't seem like their $40 dresses are any better quality then ones for $20 at somewhere like Forever 21 or Old Navy. Anyways, I got the new catalogue today and here are the highlights:

Menswear Mixed-Media Dress $42.50; Satin Mixed-Media Dress $42.50(Shorter would be better)

Boatneck Dress $39.50(Black tights with a red dress...no thanks.)Grecian Dress $38.50

This Mockneck Bell Coat has stirred up a little controversy here because as absolutely darling as it is, it's still only a portion of a coat and therefore not worth the $89 price tag. And again, since nothing EVER goes on sale at Alloy, I probably won't ever be able to own it.

This Twill A-Line Coat and the Tunic Fleece Coat are much more resonably-priced at $60. (and the 2nd one has random zippers!)
So there's some obvious stand-outs in the apparel section but there really isn't too much that I would be absolutely against seeing out in public(on someone else.) The shoe section didn't exactly stick to the same rules. In the boot section alone, we found A. The Jet Boot and B. Um...whatever this is.

It's taken me a good...4 hours or so JUST to do these 3 blogs. My computer is so messed up it's beyond funny.

Isn't this house gorgeous? I discovered it a few blocks away in a new subdivision and I'm so in love. You can't see but there's super pretty tilework around the front windows and their mailbox is rusty and old perched on top of a rusted steel beam.

Another gorgeous, nearby find was the boy I was convinced I was going to marry in 4th grade. I always thought he had a cute face and that he was sweet and everyone else just thought he was "the fat kid." Is this not one of the most hideous dresses ever? It's $5650 and if that's not bad enough, they managed to find THREE people wearing it 3 different ways...that amazes me.

In sharp contrast, how unbelievable is Portia de Rossi's wedding dress? I have a newfound obsession with wedding dresses which sucks considering I probably won't get married for like, 10 years or something. (click to see it in detail)

Lastly, I'm a very strong believer of personalities being more beautiful than exteriors, so to say that Jessica Alba looks absolutely stunning here is new for me. She's wearing Narciso Rodriguez who I've never heard of but I'm definitely checking him out.

I can't get over how in love I am with this tube from AA. I can't even put my finger on exactly what it is I like. Maybe it's the subtle-but-not-really-ness about it? I've seen people where the neon ones with low cut underarms but it seems a little...well sluttish, for lack of a better word. I guess I'm just more covered normally. But since this one doesn't have the same in-your-face attitude as the neon I think we could totally be friends.

I went to Old Navy(again, yeah, I know) to return some stuff and noticed that it's slowly turning into AA. They had their Basic, V, and Deep V shirt shelves, they had an identical dress(we won't get into THAT again) and other miscellaneous items that are remarkabley similar. Granted that AA's stuff isn't mind-blowingly unique or anything, but I dunno. It's fishy.

Another email from Piperlime introduced me to a collection of mini wedges which they inform me are all-the-rage right now. First fave is Biviel's BV1219. The color is 'Perla Nappa' how cool! I love simple, striking shoes. And the fact that they are marked down $130 to $80, especially when swimming in a sea of $250+ makes them even more desirable.

I love the second pair as well. They're Marc by Marc Jacobs and despite my normal dissatisfaction with the black/red color scheme, I approve here.

Other attention-grabbers were Chinese Laundry's Annabelle for $70, Kenneth Cole Reaction's scrunch Spice 'n Easy for $79(love the name,) and a mouse-resembling pair of Seychelles' Love to Love for $80.

I caught a show on VH1 today called Glam God and Vivica A. Fox was hosting. Okay, there's problem one: Who cares about Vivica A. Fox? All of the contestants were mildly freaking out about her and how stylish she was in her giant red garbage bag. Anyways. They had a challenge and they all had to style this fabulous Vera Wang dress. One girl(this gets graphic, grab the bucket!) CUT, WITH SCISSORS, this $2000ish Vera Wang dress.

WHAT?! I almost cried, who on earth would allow this girl to hack the life out of this dress to make a shirt? There were 2 other people standing over her watching her do it. AND, she didn't even get eliminated! Rest assured I will NOT be watching this show again.

That was the only picture I could find but speaking of Ms.Wang, I watched Jay Leno for the first time last night because Nastia Liukin was on and she's my girl. She looked so gorgeous and her dress looked very Vera(ha!)

Besides having the word 'couture' in the title, why is Juicy Couture in the same rankings with,for instance, Marc by Marc Jacobs? Juicy makes sweatpants...that say "Juicy" on the bum. How is that the same as all of this?

Every other commercial on E! shows not so cute clothes on decent models with the text 'chickdowntown.com' on the bottom. Then it flashes Juicy, Marc, Diane, etc. So, my inquiring mind and I checked it out. I don't recommend it. There's really no incentive to shop there because, I mean, the prices are the same anywhere, there's not an outrageous selection or anything...I dunno. It's upsetting.
Not upsetting is the GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!!!! dress that Giuliana Rancic wore on whatever show she's on tonight. I've been scouring the web for a good hour or so now and, of course, can't find it. Maybe in a few days it will pop up. I will explain it to the best of my ability. It had 4 lace ruffles on the bust of a completely fitted, pink floral dress. It had a random blue stripe on it which I could do without but it was so great. I watch it specifically for her wardrobe. And her hate for Ryan Seacrest. I mean look! Even her wedding dress is fantastic!

I so wish I could have this bear. Sadly, I don't have $1500 to spend on a small, sunglass-wearin' bear.

If my computer acted remotely close to the way it should be acting I would be right on schedule with these blogs. I have so many things saved and bookmarked...this is sort of my life box, so it's really hard to pull off on another computer.

It has a virus...of some sort which I can't find which makes it unable to be deleted. It is so.annoying.

Anywho, I found the most HIDEOUS purse ever created today and it was sitting on the floor in my very own Psychology class. Goodness, I don't even think I can explain to the fullest degree just how awful this bag was.

It was a pair of jeans in it's former life, I believe. It's this soft, over-processed fake denim that has an attatched flap to close it. The ends are frayed, it has a strap to sling over your shoulder, it's about the size of my two hands together...even thinking back to it is giving me a migraine. By the time I found a camera to take a picture of it with, it had dissapeared to it's next appearance. I'm sure I'll see it again and I'll make sure to get a picture.

This bag would go great with The Ugliest Coat!

I normally don't check my email due to all of the spam/random crap that fills my inbox, but I did finally go through it today and found an email sent by American Apparel. It showed me (and the millions of people on their email list,) Bare in mind, this was sent a week ago and may be old news to you.

Last night I ate the entire party's worth of food and woke up looking 9 months pregnant. So, to disguise the bloat, I wore a really pretty cream color shirt that kinda sucks in the girls then loosens up after your waist. It had lacey detail so to boy it down a big I wore a multi-colored, flannel-inspired? button up shirt tucked into some skinnies. I wouldn't suggest it because I literally spent every free second of the day adjusting what needed to be tucked and what didn't, but I looked sharp and that's what matters :)

The 'A' shirts, zebra bodysuits, fluorescent bike shorts(though how I would where them is unknown,) Afrika tube bra and HW leggings, printed bodysuit, and this plain bodysuit
which I've seen Ms.Toast rock on more than one occasion.

P.S: Did you know they're making an Isabella Blow documentary? Yay!

Either I live in a city full of size 9 feet or Old Navy doesn't make shoes over a size 8. For that reason I have to go back to Old Navy to return a pair that is just a hair too snug.

Does anyone else feel like I say Old Navy too much? I don't even normally shop there very often but lately they've had good stuff.

I'm in desperate need to find something to match a face full of peeling skin. I got a sunburn from Worlds of Fun and now my face is shedding like no other. I reallllly hope it goes away by tomorrow.

Today I'm going to NFM in my fabulous new black sating shorts with more lacy patterned tights and my brother's old Elkhorn wrestling shirt. I normally don't wear this much black especially with red being the only accent color but I actually like it. Plus I'm only furniture shopping and I'd hate to have to get tangled up in a dress carrying things. I'm on a hunt for a new, small dresser that doesn't make all of my clothes smell like roadkill. Yay?

The rest of the day is being devoted to finally getting this room 100% done....fun fun fun.

Infinite apologies for being absent so long. Sooooo much going on between work, school, more out of townage, and new babies!! Love babies.

An important new adoption into my wardrobe is a pair of black satin shorts identical to the grey pair a bought. You know, the same ones that when I picked up I said,"Gee, I wish these came in black..." Well I found them and they are so perfect. I also found the dress I really wanted but they only had yellow left and I just wasn't feelin' it.

The first day of school occured today and it wasn't decent in most ways. I have amazing classes and teachers, I'm almost upset that it's the last year. I wore a yellow hip-length trenchcoat and took all my pretty new school supplies in my blue circle over-sized clutch. It was surprisingly muggy out, definitely not 'Happy First Day!' weather. Under the coat was a pair of pretty new patterned lace tights, an elephant pendant, mustard-y yellow ruffled shoes, and a gray vintage super soft dress with layering on the bottom. It was way cute and I had an amazing hair day! Tomorrow I'm not sure what I'm wearing but I guess we'll see!

I have a lot to write about but I'm soooo tired so I'll write tomorrow, just thought I'd let you know she's alive!

Remember awhile back when I proclaimed my adoration for "DannyRunway?" Strike it. We're going to cancel it out. I checked up on his blog, something I haven't done for awhile, only to find that he's turned it into Gossip Girl essentially...and it's all about him. How dumb and vein can you get? Plus you can tell he's writing it all in 3rd person becuase the writing style is identical in all of them. Sooooo...yeah. Who does that? And who wants to read up about someone who's really niether interesting or, for lack of a better word, smart?

So Dear Danny, if you read this, stop. You're rediculous.

Oh, and the main point of his blog is basically to convince the world that he doesn't eat, which is obvious. No one eats! You're not special because of it.

I just discovered that the Lace Corset Dress I so admired in the Forever 21 store is now %50 off! It's still $20 though. I guess no one else shared the same love for it.

They have a lot of neat sale jewelry as well.

But the BIGGEST news is that I found satin shorts today! $9 at Old Navy which is more than I would normally spend on shorts but they were the ONLY pair left and just happened to be a size small, how perfect! I was very upset to see that I waited to long to get the dress I really wanted. There was something else that I went specifically to look for but forgot before I got there...and still can't remember.

Other Old Navy finds were 2 more giant clutches(one red, one blue) an apron-y button front dress, and a simple yellow v-neck.

Oh, and shoes that I told myself a million times to try on before I left(I forgot to, shock.) didn't fit. Old Navy rarely ever makes shoes in sizes higher than 8 and I personally think they run pretty soon. The 9s fit perfect but always end up killing my heels by the end of the day. These seem no different.

ON has a bunch of butterfly things for whatever reason and I was a little appalled when they all hit me in the face upon entering the store. However, if you muscle your way through the ugly you'll find this dress, which I'm totally loving.(When I hit up google for the picture it led me to this. Creative!)

AND another great find was when I was walking from my car to ON and I found an abandoned gold bangle. It's really heavy so I'm curious what it's made out of but it has fantastic detailing. Wee!

I realize that, to most, $30 is a completely reasonable price for a great pair of shoes. But I'm all about a good steal, something that Alloy definitatly does not want to give me. Their Finella Mary Janes are absolutely gorgoues, perfection on a heel. I've been in love with them for quite some time, hoping that Alloy would change their "nothing EVER goes on sale" motto. I just checked again to see and sadly, they are still $30.

Finella's adorable friends are Amelia and..Canvas?(They should stick with the name names.)

When I heard that Ralph Lauren was designing the outfits for the U.S Olympic team, my initial reaction was yay! U.S will look so clean-cut.

They did...but come on! Bo.Ring. Plus they had on the hats that I despise so much. All 600-some odd athletes had on those stupid white hats. Plus I figured the girls would have a more femenine ensamble while still matching with the men. They should have Alexander Mcqueen design them in 4 years, that'd be neat.

The rest of the pieces look pretty good though so hopefully we'll see more of those.

I got some jelly replicas from Walmart yesterday for $3! Plus I really think they are the closest thing I'm going to find to the one's I had when I was little(I've been looking for.ever. with absolutely no luck.) I also got some really basic althetic-ish shorts that are a royal blue with teal trim for $5. School supply shopping is tomorrow!

I hate when a store has good stuff on their website and not actually in-store.

Such a good show, almost makes up for the fact that there is something annoyingly wrong with my computer. I keep getting lots of pop ups and "we just deleted something that was about to kill your computer!!!" messages. I hate viruses and whatnot.

I also hate that the only time I'm truly inspired to do something proactive is 5 hours after midnight when I should be asleep. My room is clean though, so perhaps it evens out. I have discovered soooo many great articles of clothing during this hunt. One being a pair of long, metallic leggings in an XL.

I've never been an XL so either they aren't mine or I just overlooked it, which is entire possible. They do work as long, tapered pants though and you can turn them inside out if you really want to. I paired them with a simple white v-neck and jewelry during the after-cleaning dress up and it looked pretty good. Lately I've been seeing a lot of casual looks that I really like. A girl at target earlier was wearing a brown hoodie, a messy ponytail, jean shorts and tights and even though I've seen that tired look dozens of times, something about this was different. Could have just been the way she carried herself, who knows.

I'm so in a blogging mood but this pop-up is making it utterly impossible so I'll sign off for tonight/this moring.

Piperlime sent me an email today about their new "va-va-vintage" shoes. I, being a sucker for both vintage and shoes, checked it out.

They also have a few listed as "Rachel Zoe's pick" as if my entire decision on whether or not to buy a shoe depends on if Rachel Zoe approves. She's not THAT great.

Look at the detail on the inside! Ah! However, at $130, $295, $89, $135, $140, respectfully, they are all ~~slightly out~~ blowing the roof off of our price range.

They also have a "Shooties and Booties" section which I'm almost positive is said by Jay in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Also, on the topic of shoes, TysonBodnarchuk has a shop on Etsy and he paints snakes on vintage shoes! I love them so much, but not for $45. I was thinking I could easily mimic them until he started talking about mixing mediums and varnishingblah blah blah. Oh well, mine just won't last as long. Still, so cute!

What to get, What to get..

This whole entry is mainly about my back to school wishlist and first things first: A winter coat. I've been seeing so many FABULOUS trench coats lately that it's really hard to stay focused. I really want a nice, grey or black peacoat that will go with almost anything. In my current outerwear I have: 2 capes, 4 peacoats(one thin and maroon, one bulky and teal, one short and black, one tan and corduroy) 1 bomber, 2 toggle(one black and short, one blue and plaid w/fur(I know, I know, but it was free!))

So to the untrained eye, it make look like I'm set for the harshest winter, but really there isn't an everyday one that I can wear. I need a hip-length, plain peacoat. The top two are as follows:
1. The Ainsley Coat in black or grey for $100.
2. The Devin Cuffed Peacoat in black or grey for $90
The main difference between the 2 is that for $10 more, you can get a little pleated skirt-like detail on the Ainsley. Plus Ainsley is a name I've always liked. The bad thing with both, is that they're $90 and $100! I'd wait for a sale but that won't come until next summer.

A. The Unisex California Fleece Track Jacket in either black or red.
B. A simple V-neck shirt. The pic is from American Apparel but there's are $22, I'm aiming for under $5 but a nice, un-sheer v-neck is apparently a difficult find.
C. Black Shiny High-Waisted Leggings from American Apparel. Still, too expensive, but I love them! They're basically the whole world's collective fashion staple.
D. Unisex Mineral WashStretch Bull Denim Slim Slack from American Apparel. The poppy ones are nice too. I'm realllly debating these because I have a feeling the "trend" may explode into the big-time soon. So I'm going to wait it out.
E. Interlock Mini Skirt in black from AA. I wish they had a happy medium length-wise, between this and the Interlock Pencil Skirt.
F. Shiny Late Night Mini Skirt in Lame`Black from AA.
G. Polyester Micro-Fiber Tulip Skirt in any color from AA.
H. American Apparel's Shiny Headband in any color. Gotta love shiny!

There are also just a few pairs of sunglasses that I liked from 80spurple.com in assorted colors.
Also from 80spurple was this Kimono Hooded Cardigan by Rojas. It looks sooo outrageously cozy! Although I doubt I would ever wear, nor would I spend $100 on it.

As you can tell, most things I've listed are pretty basic but shuffling through the world that is my closet, I noticed that I really don't have the basics. I need some simple things that I can just toss on with a t-shirt if I'm running late or pair any accessories with without being overpowering.

Last but not least, we at FashionStaple present a prize to what quite possibly is the most god-awful, hideous coat we have ever seen in our young lives. Round of applause for the Mackenzie Coat!!

Economy hitting Ikea?

I have a rituatial every year when I go out, buy all new sticky tabs, light a bunch of candles in my room, take the entire day off work/school/other, and sit down and look through every detail on every page of my Ikea catalog.

I just saw a commercial for the new catalog and immediatly went to the site to order mine. One problem though, they charge 2 euros now.

....?

A. I live in the U.S.
B. I don't want to spend $4 on it
C. They used to be free!
Ikea has totally crushed my big event and my heart is completely shattered at the moment. Yeah, they have it online, but it's not the same.

A free catalog that I DO still get is Delia*s, even though I never buy anything from there. I saw more colored skinny jeans(surprise, surprise) and other "trendy" back-to-school awfulness. No matter how bad the clothes are though, they ALWAYS redeem themselves through shoes.
I've always been in love with these Bright Yellow Docs ever since I was little. However, the price tag is over $110 making them out of the budget. They also now have floral ones that I soooo wish I had smaller legs to pull off.

I've always loved these Blowfish Hobbit Sneakers. They're sooooo cozy and amazing. Deliciousness for feet, essentially. And, although some don't find them attractive, come on, you probably have both Crocs, Sketcher imitations and Uggs in your closet and Blowfish will blow those away. They also come in suede!

They also claim to be the only place to find all 22 colors of Converse, if that's what you're into.

In the clearence section I found this $20 amazement and this apalling $20 Bindi-The-Jungle-Girl dress.

Lisa Bonet has a neat finger wave hairdo on The Cosby Show right now. If I was brave enough to cut my hair that short again I would have a wave everyday.

I haven't posted in ages! I've been soo busy lately with work, out-of-townage and continuing my quest for the perfect back-to-school dress. Such stress.

To tell you the truth, I really have nothing pre-meditated to write about so as I speak I'm catching up on the latest what's-what in fashion.

Mainly I guess I've discovered Babe Paley(pictured above) today and I'm really not sure how I've never heard of her. She was the fashion editor for Vogue in the 40's and basically an all-around style icon. While reading up on her I came across two movies, Capote and Infamous, that I most definitely want to see now. I'm a big movie buff, just so you all know.

I'm not sure what I've worn everyday since my last post but I've had a very fashionable week. Oh, and I got that gold eyemakeup to work for me finally. I experimented, determined to convince myself that I didn't waste $4, and found that if I do my normal dark brown shadow and add a tiny strip of gold underneath, my eyes totally pop. Yay! And since I use such an eensy amount each time, it'll basically last forever.

I had a 25-30% off coupon thing for any of The Gap affiliates but I misplaced it and it expires today. Shucks.

Tomorrow I spend the day in KC going to World's of Fun and shopping(yay!)Still not sure what I'm going to wear.

Today I have a dinner date and I'm wearing a white and black fitted dress(an amazing Goodwill find,) some gold bracelets and my black-and-white cap toe shoes. I hate being so monochromatic but for some reason when I'm trying to make a good impression on someone I already know I die down a little. Oh well.

I found THE.Greatest.Store.Ever.* It's right on the corner of two very busy streets and I found it mid-rush hour, but it was soooo worth it. I was the only person in the store which leads me to believe it's not well-known. It's called Weird Wild Stuff and the hand painted sign somehow caught my attention, especially since it bore the word's VINTAGE CLOTHING underneath. I so wish I had my camera to snap up this incredibly gorgeous yellow and white striped dress. It had a layer of some sort of tulle blend on the back, like a train almost. Sigh, it was incredible. It was also $40 which I can't afford to spend right now. They also had a very Madonna-esque pink tulle bustier dress hanging on the wall for $120. Maybe the dress in it's hayday was worth $120, but I mean come on, no matter how good they look now, they are still used clothes. I'm all for used clothes, but they should be less expensive than new ones.

Anyways, the shop was very well organized by patterns and fabrics. They had a wall of go-go boots in every color imaginable(which we wouldn't wear, but liked to look at)

Alas, I didn't end up buying any clothes from there, only a pair of shades.

The rest of my thrift hunt went rather well. I got a long, flowy red&cream skirt to wear way up under the girls, a black...I'm not sure what but it has an overall-inspired top and a zebra on the front. Minor alterations and it'll be perfect. I also got 2 identical dresses, one red, one pink, each with poofy sleeves and 4 buttons on the front.

AND, although not fashion-related, I bought a $50** game from BestBuy and it.Is.Awful. It's the worst quality I've ever had the displeasure of working with. It's not an actual "game," per say, but it's an architectural, home decorating program that I bought to replace my old one(R.I.P) Today I'm going and demanding my money back and getting one that's 10 dollars more, but a lot better.

Is that not THE most stereotypical art class you've ever seen? All you need is a fat, gender neutral teen with a neon mohawk and you're set. I of course am out of frame, standing next to Benji(the photographer.)

So, with that being the highlight of the day, I wore a grey cardigan and a yellow dress with black ballet shoes. I'm not sure what's up with all of the grey lately. I don't necessarily like wearing it because then, if I write down what I wear on here, I have to spell grey and I never know if it's "grey" or "gray", so I just use both.

I love my ballet shoes because you can slide around on most floors, they last basically forever, and they were a dollar a set. Amazing! I wish they came in more standard colors besides nude and black. Oh well.

The bathroom is FINALLY finished. My room isn't..shock..but I don't spend much time in there anyways. My house design software busted today for some inexplicable reason so tomorrow's main mid-day event is to go to Best Buy and get another.

I just got a surge of viewers (40 in a span of an hour or so) and they're all to the entry about my sister.Strange. And creepy.

Anyways, as I've stated before, I'm not really one for makeup. I did however buy Covergirl's Gold Sizzle eyeshadow yesterday and I'm am not very pleased. If you reallllly scrub the makeup brush in there then there's a chance you'll get enough to show up on your eyelids. However, if and when you finally accomplish that, it wears off in about 10 minutes. There's a $3 I'll never get back. This actually isn't the first time I've been more than displeased with CG. I had to use their Clean Makeup foundation for a school play and my face looked like an Applebee's balloon afterward. Plus it didn't go down for a week. I'm sure I don't have to tell any of you how hard it is to match a week's wardrobe with red.

Yesterday my quest for the perfect party dress didn't go too well. I ended up finding an adequate dress that everyone else liked, but it just didn't feel like "The One." It was a little strapless number with a lace-up dealy on the sides. It was a dark dark gray with lighter gray, thin stripes all over(not pinstripes.) I did happen to find a yellow crochet tam at SA and after a few hard washes it should be okay to wear.

Today's fairly uneventful however. I'm finishing the bathroom redo and maybe finishing my room...maybe. Not sure what I'll be wearing to do it all in yet.

Dress looked like this: Sides,Top(mine didn't have straps,)the bottom was sort of bubbly.

I fell asleep before the new Bikini or Bust aired last night and I was a little upset(keep in mind, the show starts at 9.) Since I fell asleep at such a premature time I woke up this morning at 6 something. It's now 8:22 am and I could not be more bored. I stumpled upon an episode of Freakozoid online, a show that I used to LOVE. My uncle used to work for it and he'd always send over tapes but not a lot of people knew about it. I miss good cartoons like that and Johnny Bravo. And speaking of cartoons, have any of you ever read those Junie B. Jones books?(recently?) Her outfits are amazing! My little sister was showing me all of the books and she has stuch free, kindergarten style! Done right!

Her little snotty friend has a neat look too.

Okay I really need to get into "grown-up" clothes again because I'm starting look like a chimo or something.

Right now I'm getting ready to go out in search of the perfect party dress for tonight because I couldn't find one in my closet. Salvation Army and Blinkos, here we come!

Pictures of small child. She's cute though, I promise. The first is the "before", so to speak. I'm currently watching her at my parents house so they can go out to eat. The blue ensamble is how my mom dresses her. Frilly. So I turned her into a mini me which was actually a little challenging. She has 2 closets(with multiple racks) in her room plus an entire room in the basement devoted to her wardrobe. Unfortunately everything is paired together in perfectly matching outfits and if you seperate them, you better have a death wish.

Back to my point. I found her teeny skinny jeans, a yellow rouched tank with eyelet edges, and some really old, beat in ballet shoes. I messed up her hair and gave her my cardigan. I tucked in the edges of the cardi into her jeans, left the under shirt out and gave her some glasses from my purse. Enough talk...Pictures!

Like a true 4-year-old, the only way to make her sit in one spot is to turn on Hannah Montana. The screen I'm typing on is taking up 1/4 of the screen while the show takes up the other 75%(there's no tv in here.)And I'm also upset that I'm finally in a place with a camera and a computer and I'm not wearing anything post worthy. I changed out of the fore-mentioned dress and into Nylon shorts and my middle school gym shirt. Oh, plus the cardigan that Lainie is still wearing. She isn't really into the clothes, she's more into the fact that the cardigan is big and makes her look like she can fly.

Ever since 3rd grade when I was formally asked to write a paper on which super power I would want and why, I decided that I wish I could pull things out of pictures. If I find myself in public without company, I keep myself entertained by looking around for things I want, discreetly pointing, and pretending that they will magically be on my bed when I get home. They never do, of course, and I've never told anyone that because, let's face it, it's what crazy people do...but that's cool.

I'm apparently behind in the fashion blogging world because I'm just now learning of Tavi, our little fashion prodigy. She's like Karla Closet's little brother(?)..only with a blog. My kids are going to be that fashionable and amazing but, as promised, no more small children photos for a while.

I couldn't sleep last night so I started to rummage through my closet to see if anything new appeared(which sometimes happens and is a strange but completely accepted phenomenon.)

No such luck really. I found a Playdaze party-room inspired dress(think assorted geometric shapes.) I remember getting it awhile ago and having one of those bring-it-home-and-decide-you-don't-like-it moments so I stuffed it in the back of a closet for this very reason.

Picture this only white with buttons down the front instead of the tie.

The airy goodness came in handy in the scorching heat whilst I was watching over an entire day-care worth of children. I got a whopping $10 to do it though.

First off, "Drop-crotch" pants have a real name, Harem pants. Secondly, look at the Chanel Carousel from it's FW 08 show. Can you get any more amazing? Honestly.

I would easily spend my entire life savings to stand on that.

To work at or for Chanel would be so incredible. At this point, I'm not even able to be a consumer(other than one makeup brush) so I'm really no use to them. Maybe someday.

Yesterday I wasn't able to make the Old Navy trip I had wanted to because we were so busy running around to find stuff for the bathroom. Today I installed the fantastic new aged bronze light fixture and knobs. We got a fancy tissue box, pitcher, and silver tray from Goodwill for a decorative way to cover straightener burn marks (ahh, the ol' straight hair days.)

Is that not the CUTEST swimsuit ever. I would wear that even today. My little sister wore one yesterday for swimming lessons and I just had to drive over to watch. So darling.

My own darling pieces for today are some fabulous Goodwill finds. My main piece is a grey, knee-length dress with pleats at the top-front and on the sides of the hem. There was a sage-colored sash that went with it but it really shouldn't have. Instead, it was given a new home in my sister's dress-up box.

My other Goodwill items for the day include a roughed-up, gold, centimeter-thick bangle and some simple, triple-pearl(imposter) earrings.

I woke up earlier then intended(it is now 6:30 am) and since my plans don't start until 9, I decided to do more pretend online shopping. VintageEtc. had this great pair of sunglasses with some neat detailing and NastyGal had this beauty, although it's already sold out.

I'm normally mildly against American Apparel but I was intrigued by their Le Sac Dress. They have 8 different ways to wear it pictured but I'm sure there are a thousand more ways to configure it. None of them seem to really be our style but it would be fun to try it on.

Random question: Why does EVERYONE this week have a dress named Georgette? Am I missing something?(Fendi, MCQ, Old Navy??)

Last but not least, I've wanted this Baby Rib Cross-Back dress from AA for a while, just not for $39.

A few weeks ago I saw an identical one at Old Navy for $20 or $25 but since everything always gets marked down at ON, I decided to wait. Well, surprisingly enough, I forgot about it and I can't find it on the site. I'll have to make a special trip down today to see if it's still there.

If there were a hidden misogynistic meaning in any show, this would be it.

She just turned 67 and except for the teeth, she really doesn't look all that bad. It'd be a little upset to see the flaming hair go but I'd get over it awful quick. I wish the world would just accept the fact that they get old. Everyone does, stop trying to look younger.

I love her, of course, and would never want to so blatently offend her, but seriously...do something (except changing your fashion ideas because you're brilliant!)

I hate that OPI nail polish is so expensive(for temporary nail polish.) It really is the best as far as only needing one coat and all of their colors. There's a good Walmart brand(not my hand) that only takes one coat but a much smaller selection. Normally I'm not a big makeup person but today I decided to broaden the horizon.

I just ate my weight in Godfather's Pizza(sooooo delicious!) and I know it's horrible, but I'm ready to just fall right asleep. It's like Thanksgiving or something.

Today I wore a super sweet white dress with a red bow and a black giraffe drawn on the front. I'm normally not one for the black/white/red combination but this worked. We rocked it with black tights and white cap-toe shoes. It turned out to be a little simple for our taste but a lot of mixed gold bangles made it okay(and a little christmas-y?.) I did however get a lot of disapproving looks as I wore all of this to take my little sister to her swim lessons. One woman felt the need to compliment my winter-wear. Oh well, her Old Navy flag shirt had bleach spots.

Is it weird for a girl to not really be into makeup? 98% of the teenage girls I saw today(even the ones in the water) had four coats of paint on their faces. I've never been much of a foundationer, although my 7th-grade friends begged me to become one. I have decent skin, just a few freckles. My everyday makeup consists positioning my hair over whatever blemish I may have that day, a little brown eyeshadow and a charcoal eye liner blended underneath. Basic. I think it all comes down to the fact that I'm just far too cheap to spend $2+ on a tiny container of eyemakeup. I have a hard time spending money on things that will run out.

You may remember my excitement over feathered headbands that I came across a few days ago. Well, we got this month's Nylon (Mischa "Mushy" Barton? Why Nylon, Why?) and on page 96 they featured young accessories designers. Kathryn Zarem and Jessica Schwartzberg started Pluma which makes feathered hair accessories. I'm not sure if they actually "invented" them, so to speak, (kudos if you did) but I have no one else to put the finger on so there you go.

Plus Sebastian's new ads featuring Cory Kennedy are out and she looks marv.el.ous.

Lack of plans(and effort to make any) today resulted in a few hours of online make-believe shopping. I came across net-a-porter.com and I've heard of it before, but maybe the name through me off. Either way, I never gave it a good look over. MAN, was I missing out. They had amazing Alice+Olivia pieces for over $100 off and an MCQ eyelet trench-ish coat marked from $740 to $296!

Some other spectacular pieces that demanded attention were Fendi's Georgette Dress, MCQ's V-neck Gingham Dress, MCQ's Striped Pencil Dress (Yes, we know we're obsessed,) and also this MCQ Shrunken Tuxedo Jacket that looks strikingly similar to Ms. Spinach's last post.

If someone had graciously given me a few thousand dollars at noonish or so I would have been the happiest girl in the whole world. For now I'm still in love with my Adidas leggings and my new black, tiered, mini dress (not together, of course.)

So I haven't been able to blog for two days or so because I've been so busy redecorating!...Kinda. I have a quarter of the room done. I stole my sisters dresser because she never uses it and it's a fabulously warn, pale yellow piece. The handles sort of look like white-walled tires. Oh and speaking of cars, my grandpa bought me a mini model of a '65 Cobra because I eyed them so much at the fair. ADD, sorry. Back to the room. I took out my old nasty brown dresser (who's only plus was the cow print wallpaper than inhabited the first drawer), a big, chinese-printed, papason chair, and some miscellaneous tables. I still need to get this desk out of here and try to cram all of my clothes in my teeny closet.

Fashion-wise, I finally got the adidas leggings I've been longing for and pair them with my knee-highish black boots, mini-chiffon cheetah print (lingerie?) dress, and a black hoodie. I had a fantastic hair day too and all I did was babysit this really developmentally behind 18-month-old. Oh, and watch the Optimist Club's AMAZING firework show. Now we know where all the money donated goes.

We had a minor change in plans tonight that made me miss the premiere of Project Runway. Upset? Why yes, I am.

I was holding off looking at the bios so I could just meet everyone the first day but now I feel behind. I always like men named Wesley so that's a plus for him. My early prediction, from photos and text alone, is that Jerell will win. He seems like a fun guy. Definitately unique. We'll have to see if I'm right in a few weeks.

While we're on the subject of television shows, I want Gossip Girl back. Shows need to just continuously make episodes, I hate the off-seasons. For now I'm watching the unstylish Weeds, the very hit-or-miss Ashley Paige, and some show about a pregnant teenager(which will probably end soon.)

STOP WITH THE PIGTAILS! I've yet to see ANYONE over the age of 5 really pull of pigtails and you and your models are certainly no exception. Please, for the love of everything fashion, STOP!)

Today we wore cigarette thin jeans that were far too long so we tucked them into brown, braided gladiators and topped it off with a wide, short, ill-fitting red&white striped shirt. It doesn't sound as good when you read it but I promise it was spectacular.

Tomorrow is fairly uneventful so I'm sure it'll be my super comfy Old Navy giraffe shorts (underwear?) and a tee.

I can't put my finger on exactly what makes me dislike Hayden Panettiere...but I do. The reason I bring that up is because I've been noticing more Candie's stuff that is decent and she is the spokeswhore. Candie's sells at Kohl's and is very hit-or-miss. A hit would be these fabulous Limbbo Open-Toe Heels for $18

I'm surprised but outrageously pleased to see that the blog title FashionStaple hadn't been used yet. It took me ages to finally find a name to settle on and I guess my creativity(or lack there of) shows.

The biggest influences for this blog are probably Fashionisspinach and FashionToast, because after all, who doesn't love fashion mixed with food?

I was hoping to kick this off with a photo of my fabulous outfit of the day. However, my camera had a different plan. I now have 5.1 Mega Pixels worth of broken-ness and it's a little upsetting. So picture in your heads metallic pink 3" heels with a fluffy, ivory, Erin Featherston dress.
